Jaeger-LeCoultre has been supporting, since twelve years, all those who daily contribute to create and bring life to the art of filmmaking, and attaching great importance to the preservation of its heritage.
The annual Salon International de la Haute Horlogerie (SIHH) is, as the name would imply, a show predominantly composed of watchmakers producing watches that represent the upper echelons of watchmaking. Six-figure cost tags are a dime a dozen on the show floor. When I first watched the new Master Control Date with a business dial at Jaeger-LeCoultre’s stall, I knew I wanted to get a time with it in my wrist, but when each conversation I had with journalists, collectors, and other business buddies kept coming back to some $5,700 time-and-date watch, I knew we had something special on our hands.Openworked tourbillons and decimal dramatic watches are great, sure, but when we are being honest, they are show pieces over anything else. Very few will ever be produced, and very few will ever actually be worn out-and-about. I’m not saying I don’t like such watches — I find them endlessly fascinating and lust-worthy — just that I find watches like this Jaeger-LeCoultre much more persuasive in the end. It is a simple watch that offers actual watchmaking indoors, has a distinctive design, and comes in at a price which makes it affordable to some relatively large swathe of their watch-loving population.Let’s look at how the new industry dial Master Control Date came about and then dig into the specifics of the watch itself. The Master Control collection made its debut to Jaeger-LeCoultre back in 1992. The thought was to make a line of watches which represented the worth of pure, classic watchmaking, having a focus on simple aesthetics, functionality, hi-tech, and long-term functionality. Along with the first assortment of watches, Jaeger-LeCoultre started its “1,000 Hours Control” quality check program, which subjects finished watches into a six-week program of evaluations. Including impacts, temperature fluctuations, movement through six positions, water resistance, and much more — it is all pretty standard stuff today (though six months is a lot of time for something like this), but in 1992 this was essentially unheard of.
In this spirit, Jaeger-LeCoultre enjoys close associations with the International Film Festival of La Biennale di Venezia and pays tribute to filmmakers’ creative ingenuity by conferring the Glory to the Filmmaker Award on a personality “who has brought great innovation to contemporary cinema” explains Alberto Barbera. The list of past honourees makes fascinating reading and those are some recent examples : Ettore Scola (2013), James Franco (2014), Brian de Palma (2015) and last year Amir Naderi.
The Grande Maison cultivates strong ties with the film industry and displays a passionate commitment to highlighting filmmaking culture. During the 74th International Film Festival of La Biennale di Venezia, Jaeger-LeCoultre will support talents of the 7th Art through unique initiatives and cinematic moments.
Including Venice, Jaeger-lecoultre Pocket Watch Gstp Replica has associated with others cinematics events, such as Shanghai, and San Sebastian, and in turn pays tribute to the creative talent of filmmakers by annually awarding the Glory to the Filmmaker Award. Through its close affinity with the world of film, Jaeger-LeCoultre has found shared values and a common mission: each second bears the imprint of a moment of eternity.
